hi all!
this is a special item we made in our village area.
ingredients :
boiled rice - 1 cup
toor dhall - 1/4 cup
channa dhall - 1/4 cup
urad dhall - 2 t.spoon
red chillies - 8
cocunut - 1/2 cup shredded
salt need
curry leaves - 1 spring
mustard seed - 1 spoon
perungayam - pinch
water - 4 cup
preparation :
soak the rice and dhalls together for 2 hours.
grind them with salt 6 red chillies into a coarse paste without
adding water.it should be in thick batter.add the shredded coconut
to this. you should make balls in your hands with the batter.
in a cooker add 2 spoon of oil.
add mustard .once it splutters add 2 red chillies,perungayam,and curry leaves.
add 3 cups of water to it.let it boil.
add 1 spoon of salt to this water.
now make 10 small balls with the batter(no need for perfect shape of ball)
put them in the boiling water.once the ball cooked it will float in the water.
take them out and keep in a plate.let make all the balls and put them in the boiling
water batch by batch.
once finished,check for the water in the cooker.
if it is less then add 1 cup of water
let it boil.then add the cooked balls to this.close the cooker lid.
let it cook for 10 mins in medium flame.
once done,serve this kozhukkattai with kanji.it is a nice tiffin during rainy days.
